AbadTak’s book club, Thinking Mountain, is based on the phrase ‘Thinking like a mountain’ coined by Aldo Leopold.
It means to have an appreciation for the interconnectedness of the elements in the ecosystems and an understanding that people cannot hurt one part of the web of life ecosystem without the rest of the web being affected.
This theme will reverberate throughout the book club as we explore various themes relating to climate change through a range of mediums (books, news articles, academic essays, poems and videos).
This book club welcomes people from all backgrounds that are interested in learning more about environmental issues and seek a space to dissect texts, challenge their beliefs and vocalize their learnings in an interactive manner. It serves as a platform to spark invigorating conversations and inspiring new ways to take action.
Meetings
The AbadTak Book Club meets bi-monthly on a day and time decided by the entire group with each session being 1 hour long.
Book choice for each month will be posted in the WhatsApp group. Here some key thoughts and talking points can also be shared.
Based on what is mutually agreed upon, participants will meet either once a month or bi-weekly to discuss the book.
We will meet virtually over Zoom (the link will be scheduled in all our calendars) or potentially at partner organizations.
The club can meet in person every six months for a book club picnic!
