Story About Us
What exactly is

Environmental literacy?

Environmental literacy (EL), is that which achieves environmental education outcomes. These could be knowledge of local environments and ecology, ecosystem and ecosystem services, critical thinking and transferable skills, a change in attitude and behaviour that leads to a change in practice or system change.
What we are trying to tackle

Nature deficit order

Environmental education is still a relatively nascent value addition to the education system, and thus is not fully integrated at the primary and secondary levels as it should be. Most individuals entering the practical world are still harbouring a ‘nature deficit disorder’.

Global population under 30

50.5%
U.N Statistic

The world has entered a population of 8 billion, and the size of the population below the age of 30 accounts for more than half of this.

Continued growth

The size of this young population continues to grow at a ‘robust pace’ particularly in developing economies.

According to the UN, the youth will be the “new global power reshaping the world” and thus it is ever more essential that policies and programmes tackle the ‘youth bulge’ and provide them with the necessary and correct skills in order to prepare them for the onset of a new era i.e the anthropocene
